2015 Apr 28

Jacqueline T Marhefka was recently inducted into the Edwin H. Sutherland Criminology Honor Society at Stonehill College.

The honor society recognizes the outstanding achievements of Criminology majors at Stonehill. The society endeavors to foster a community of young scholars dedicated to enhancing their understanding of the causes, prevention, control, and treatment of crime and delinquency.

Marhefka is a member of the Class of 2016 at the College.

Stonehill College's criminology program was ranked fourth in the nation by the college-ranking website College Factual, which USA Today regularly features in its higher education coverage.

"The criminology program (at Stonehill) is one of the top programs in the country because it allows students to learn both the theory and practice of criminology. Classes in criminal justice, sociology, juvenile delinquency and the accused are supplemented with research classes to provide a comprehensive criminology education," said College Factual reporter Megan Cahill.

Cahill also noted that Stonehill criminology majors often pursue various careers in law and public service and have one of the best average starting salaries in the country at $42,000. The average mid-career salary is $65,000.
