Stonehill's Alissa Onofrio Honored By The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival

Stonehill's Alissa C Onofrio was one of 13 from the College honored by The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for their work in the Stonehill Theatre Company's fall production of The Serpent Woman. The Festival, which encourages, recognizes, and celebrates the finest and most diverse work produced in university and college theater programs, honors individual student artists through awards and scholarships in playwriting, acting, criticism, directing, and design.

Onofrio is a member of the Class of 2017 studying Finance.

Gabriele Jaques '16, Dylan Turner '17, Dylan O'Connell '19 were each nominated for Irene Ryan Acting Scholarships for their acting performances inThe Serpent Woman which ran in the College's Hemingway Theatre last month. The scholarships provide recognition to outstanding student performers wishing to further their education. In addition, Mark Howard '17 and Gabriella Salce '16 were selected as alternates. The group will audition at The Kennedy Center American College Theater Region I Festival at Western Connecticut State University from January 26th - January 31st.

Stage manager Hallie Watts '17 was selected to be a part of the KCACTF Regional Stage Management Team where she will stage manage a festival event. Elizabeth Duffy '16 was nominated for The LMDA (Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas)/KCACTF Student Dramaturgy Award which recognizes contributions by student dramaturgs to the conception, development and production of theater within their colleges and universities.

The Serpent Woman student director Samantha Putko '16 was nominated for the SDC (Stage Director and Choreographers) Directing Initiative and the make-up team of Alissa Onofrio '17, Emma Quigley '17, Lauren Cronan '11, Lindsay Gomes '18, Meagan Nilan '19, and Victoria Giambanco '18 received honorable mentions.

Started in 1969 by Roger L. Stevens, the Kennedy Center's founding chairman, the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) is a national theater program involving 20,000 students from colleges and universities nationwide annually. For 46 years, the organization has served as a catalyst in improving the quality of college theater in the United States. KCACTF has grown into a network of more than 700 academic institutions throughout the country.
