The senior linebacker recognized with college football's highest community service honor.

Students who participate in the H.O.P.E. Service Immersion Program form community with one another during the five months leading up to their trip. They learn about the culture, history and issues of social injustice in the communities they are destined to visit and serve.

Many Stonehill College students will be spending their spring break week helping those in need as part of the school's H.O.P.E. Alternative Spring Break Program. The following local residents will be traveling the week of March 9th to Wheeling, West Virginia where they will be working with the Appalachian Institute at Wheeling Jesuit University. While there, they will work on site at its Fresh Air Farms and learn about social justice issues ranging from mountain top removal, fracking, and addiction which are prevalent in the local community.

The following local residents will be traveling the week of March 9th to Ware, Massachusetts where they will be working with the Agape Community and its sustainable farm.

They will assist in construction of a wheelchair ramp and other home reconstruction for underserved families who otherwise would not be able to finance or execute these repairs.

The following local residents will be traveling the week of March 9th to Syracuse, New York where they will be working with the L'Arche Community, a home which enables people with and without disabilities to share their lives in communities of faith and friendship.

The following local residents will be traveling the week of March 9th to Staten Island where they will be doing Hurricane Sandy relief work.

They will be working with the church's hospitality ministry, building community with those who are hungry, homeless, mentally ill, recovering from drug addiction and abuse, or living with intellectual and an developmental disabilities.

The following local residents will be traveling the week of March 9th to Peru where they will be volunteering for the Yancana Huasy Project, which is a Congregation of Holy Cross missionary outreach program. It attends to children and their families who live with physical and mental challenges, including Downs' Syndrome and other distressing conditions.

The following local residents will be traveling the week of March 9th to New Orleans where they will be volunteering for the Saint Bernard Project, an award-winning rebuilding, nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure that disaster-impacted communities in the greater New Orleans area recover in a prompt, efficient, and predictable way.

The following local residents will be traveling the week of March 9th to Kentucky where they will be volunteering for the Christian Appalachian Project, an interdenominational, non-profit Christian organization committed to serving people in need in Appalachia by providing physical, spiritual and emotional support through a wide variety of programs and services.

The following local residents will be traveling the week of March 9th to the Dominican Republic where they will be volunteering at Hogar del Nino, a center that seeks to offer necessary services to children in need.

The following local residents will be traveling the week of March 9th to the Bronx where they will be volunteering at the Mercy Center, a community center for women and their families located in the Mott Haven section of the South Bronx.
