On a seven-day pilgrimage to Italy in early January, the Stonehill College Chapel Choir had the honor of singing for Pope Francis. In addition to that highlight, the Choir, which is known for its joyful liturgical music, provided music for Mass in St. Peter's Basilica and at a concert at the San Lorenzo International Youth Center both of which are in Rome.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.

A total of 37 students were named Outstanding Students of the Year at Stonehill's recent Scholars Celebration.

Lambda Epsilon Sigma is Stonehill College's Honor Society. The purpose of the Society is to recognize and promote scholarship. Juniors and seniors who have attained a 3.50 cumulative grade point average are invited to apply for consideration. Additionally, in order to be inducted into the Society, the student must be recommended by faculty from both within and outside of the student's major.

The Association of Private Enterprise Education recognized Stonehill students with 2nd place in the Undergraduate Research Competition.

Recently, several Stonehill students traveled to New York City for the NY Externship Program. Students stayed with Stonehill alumni and parents and visited with alumni and friends of the College who work at various companies in the New York area to learn about different industries and career paths available to them.

Recently, four communication majors, Aidan Farrell '16, Erin Cook '16, Emily Tokarowski '16 and Sierra St. Pierre '18 took part in the sixth annual James & Virginia McCroskey Undergraduate Scholars' Conference in Baltimore, Md. where they each presented research papers.

"Summit" features editor Amy Mckeever '18 recently received a Journalism Education Foundation Scholarship from the New England Newspaper and Press Association,

The Department of Visual and Performing Arts and the Stonehill Theatre Company present their spring production "Faust," April 14-16 at Hemingway Theatre. An ensemble-driven production, Faust features choreography, musical composition, and costume design by students, and a more collaborative approach to performance.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has announced that Stonehill environmental science major Emily Van Auken '18 has been chosen for the Class of 2016 Ernest F. Hollings Undergraduate Scholarship Program which provides academic assistance for two academic years beginning in September 2016 through May 2018 and one summer internship in 2017. A total of 125 students nationwide were selected for the program, including just five from schools in Massachusetts.

Stonehill College sophomore Cristianie DePina was recently named a 2016 Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact, a Boston-based non-profit that works to advance the public purpose of higher education. The award, named in honor of Campus Compact co-founder Frank Newman, honors students who are proven leaders with both the motivation and ability to make substantial contributions toward public problem solving.

Part of a new program between Stonehill College and Catholic University, Hannah Chauvin is interning for U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy in D.C.

Having spent the fall studying at the Beijing Center for Chinese Studies, Evan Wolstencroft '16 has received a Critical Language Scholarship (CLS), which will allow him to spend eight weeks this summer in Taiwan.

A member of the Stonehill Theatre Company, Samantha Putko '16 has been chosen to receive a National Fellowship Award from the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival.

The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) has recognized 13 Stonehill students along with one alumnus for their work in the Stonehill Theatre Company's fall production of The Serpent Woman.

Stonehill's Oscar Tsao '17 is spending the fall semester on a sailing adventure to Spain and Portugal through the highly competitive Sea Education Association (SEA) Semester Study Abroad Program. One of 14 students selected for SEA's "Global Ocean" voyage, Tsao is investigating the human impacts on the ocean throughout his six week's at sea on the SSV Corwith Cramer, a state-of-the-art 134 brigantine.

Stonehill's Steven Weber '15 has been awarded the eighth annual D'Agostino Prize for Excellence in History by the College's History Department for his senior thesis, "Beyond Propaganda: The Ideological Underpinnings of the 1762-1763 Newspaper Debate over the Earl of Bute," advised by Professor Amy Houston.

Several Stonehill students were recognized and honored for their outstanding contributions to service and campus life at the 2015 Student Life Awards on Sunday, April 27.

The Teach For America Program enlists high-achieving college graduates and professionals to teach for at least two years in low-income communities throughout the United States. The highly selective program accepts about 15 percent of its applicants each year.

The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation recently announced biochemistry major Emily Zygiel '16 as the recipient of a prestigious Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship.

Stonehill alumnus Joseph Gale '13 was recently awarded a prestigious Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Turkey for the 2015-2016 school year.
