Phi Lambda Upsilon promotes high scholarship and original investigations in all branches of pure and applied Chemistry.

Phi Alpha Theta recognizes academic achievement in History and promotes the study of history and encourages research.

Omicron Delta Epsilon recognizes academic achievement in Economics.

Lambda Pi Eta recognizes, fosters, and rewards outstanding scholastic achievement while stimulating interest in the Communication discipline.

The Kappa Mu Epsilon Mathematics Honor Society recognizes academic achievement in Mathematics.

The Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society in Education recognizes students who have shown evidence of outstanding academic achievement.

The Financial Management Association National Honor Society recognizes scholastic achievement through induction of students who have demonstrated superior scholarship in Finance.

Stonehill College's Edwin H. Sutherland Criminology Honor Society recognizes the outstanding achievements of Criminology majors. The society endeavors to foster a community of young scholars dedicated to enhancing their understanding of the causes, prevention, control, and treatment of crime and delinquency.

The Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society recognizes students enrolled in Business and Management programs accredited by AACSB International. Election to lifetime membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest honor a business student anywhere in the world can receive in an undergraduate program at a school accredited by AACSB International.

The International Honorary Organization recognizes Accounting students at AACSB International accredited universities. Its primary objective is to encourage and give recognition to scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field.

The National Marketing Honorary recognizes qualified undergraduate, graduate and doctoral Marketing students and Marketing faculty.

The following people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.

The International Sociology Honor Society recognizes academic excellence in the study of sociological theories and research methodologies, as well as the application of this knowledge to understanding social problems and social justice

Lambda Epsilon Sigma is Stonehill's Honor Society. The purpose of the society is to recognize and promote scholarship. Juniors and seniors who have attained a 3.5 cumulative grade point average are invited to apply for consideration. Acceptance into the society is based on evidence of academic achievement, of a pursuit of learning that extends beyond the classroom environment and of an ability to communicate effectively through writing.

At the recent Scholars Celebration at Stonehill College, a total of 27 students received departmental awards which are given to the top students in each of the College's academic departments.

A total of 48 Stonehill College students will work with 25 faculty members on a variety of research projects during the summer of 2015. This will mark the 20th year of the Stonehill Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) program, whose purpose is to provide students with an opportunity to perform significant, publishable research under the guidance of an experienced faculty researcher.

11 students represented Chile at a week-long National Model United Nations conference in New York. To role play as Chilean diplomats, they spent a semester researching Chile's position on a variety of international issues. While in New York, the student diplomats also visited the United Nations, meeting U.N. officials and gaining deeper insight on regional conflicts, peacekeeping, human rights, women and children, economic & social development, and the environment.

Michaella Farrell '15, Katie Morneault '16 and Whitney Wemett '16 took first place in the International Impact category of the Beta Alpha Psi "Best Practices" Competition in Washington, D.C.

The Stonehill Chapel Choir consists of both singers and instrumentalists of all faiths who provide musical leadership for the college's primary liturgy, the 7:00pm Eucharistic liturgy on Sunday evenings in the Chapel of Mary.

Economics and Environmental Studies major Thomas Gumbley '16 has been awarded a $50,000 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Greater Research Opportunities (GRO) Fellowship For Undergraduate Environmental Study. In addition to supporting his final two years at Stonehill, the fellowship also includes an internship with an EPA-funded research project this summer.

Selected from thousands of applicants, Jennifer Taranto is working in the White House this semester through the White House Internship Program. The hands-on program is designed to mentor and cultivate today's young leaders, strengthen their understanding of the Executive Office and prepare them for future public service opportunities.

The student body at Stonehill voted to elect the new Student Government Association (SGA) Executive Board for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Students who participate in the H.O.P.E. Service Immersion Program form community with one another during the five months leading up to their trip. They learn about the culture, history and issues of social injustice in the communities they are destined to visit and serve.

To qualify for the Dean's List, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.

This semester, a total of 144 Stonehill students are studying abroad during the Spring 2015 semester in locations throughout the world. Recently named one of the top study abroad institutions in the nation by the Institute of International Education, Stonehill has more than 200 study abroad programs in 35 countries which students can choose from.
